COVID-19 Notice

We have been monitoring the recent Omicron surge carefully, and we are excited to welcome our vaccinated clients back into the building starting February 15, 2022.

We will be allowing one vaccinated and masked client to join their furkid for all doctor exams. This policy change will not apply to our Tech Appointments and Drop-Offs. When you arrive for your appointment, please check in at the vestibule or call us at 410-788-3784 to alert us that you have arrived.

As our call volume is still elevated, please continue to email [email protected] regarding non-urgent matters or requests. Medication and food refills may be longer than usual. VetSource remains the most efficient method for refills and these requests will receive priority.

Grief Counseling at Frederick Road Veterinary Hospital

As part of our ongoing mission to provide the best possible care to both our patients and our clients we are pleased to announce the start of a Grief Counseling Group here at Frederick Road Veterinary Hospital. Most of us consider our animals to be members of our family and many among us have experienced the hardship of having to say goodbye to a cherished companion animal. If you’re coping with the loss of a beloved pet, whether it’s recent or happened some time ago, you are not alone in your grief. The coordinator for the sessions will be Jess Balk-Huffines, MS, LCPC, an experienced grief counselor and one of our very own clients!

We’ll let her introduce herself:

“I am a licensed therapist and Baltimore County native that grew up in Florida, spent some time in Pennsylvania, then re-settled to the Catonsville area in 2009. I earned my Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Loyola in 2015. My main specialty is in grief counseling and I am passionate about helping those who experience the unfortunate loss of a pet. I’m absolutely thrilled to be partnering with FRVH to provide this much-needed space to process the feelings associated with losing our beloved companions. I have worked in crisis and group addictions treatment throughout the Baltimore and Columbia areas, and continue to maintain a small private practice in Pasadena, MD.  I am proud fur-parent to Sadie, my 7yo, sassy, three-legged, tortoiseshell cat and her “sister”, Socks, my 19yo, now-cuddly-previously-feral-fighter cat who is living a life of retirement at our home in Catonsville.”
