Dan Zakai, DVM
Hi. I’m a 2006 graduate of the Royal Veterinary College in London, England. I grew up in the Baltimore area. After college in Atlanta and an internship at Turpentine Creek, I moved to the UK in 2001 to pursue my veterinary degree. Married to Lisa in 2004, I’m happy to be back in my hometown.
I enjoy hanging out with my friends and family and watching the Ravens. I’m frequently out and about in the local parks with the kids and dogs. I try to live an active lifestyle and enjoy each and every day. I look forward to being your neighborhood vet.
Lisa Zakai, DVM
Hello. I am a 1996 graduate of the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. I moved to Baltimore after graduation and practiced in the Baltimore area for the first six years of my career before moving to London, England in 2001. While in the UK, I worked with the RSPCA and did extensive work in soft tissue and orthopedic surgery. I moved back to Baltimore in 2006 and settled in Catonsville with my husband and son.
I am a mommy of two kids, two dogs and three cats. I enjoy reading, running, and watching college and professional football. Caring for animals and the people that love them is truly a calling for me. I strive to be an honest, open and compassionate person in life and veterinary medicine.
Jessica Beyer, DVM
Hello! I am a 2008 graduate of The Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine, and joined the FRVH team in November 2014. I grew up in Western Maryland, completed my undergraduate studies at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, and currently reside in Sykesville. Upon graduation from veterinary school, I completed a small animal internship at Dogs and Cats Veterinary Referral in Bowie. I am a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the Delta Chapter of the Society of Phi Zeta (Honor Society of Veterinary Medicine). My special veterinary interests include internal medicine, preventative and geriatric medicine, and client education. I am extremely committed to my patients and continually strive to give them the best medical care.
Outside of work, I enjoy boating, shopping for antiques, traveling, and spending time with my husband and son. I also love playing with our two dogs, Paige and Reedie (named after Ed Reed of the Baltimore Ravens).
Jay Rohrback, RVT/Practice Manager
Hello, I have been a Registered Veterinary Technician for fifteen years and have been working in the Veterinary field since 1994. Following completing CCBC Essex’s Veterinary Technology program in 1999, I moved to Columbus, Ohio where I worked at a prominent veterinary specialty hospital in the Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology departments. However, Baltimore has always remained my home and where I plan to stay.
I have been with FRVH since the beginning and have enjoyed being a part of our growing veterinary family and becoming part of the Catonsville community. Over the past year and a half, I have taken on additional Practice Manager responsibilities but still an very involved on the medical side.
Even though I’ve been called the cat whisperer during my career, I equally enjoy caring for dogs and all animal species. Providing high quality compassionate pet care along with educating clients is what I’m most passionate about.
I’m a huge Ravens fan and have enjoyed the return of some Oriole magic.
Heather Harrison, RVT

We both really enjoy it a lot. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling with my husband Sean, party planning, photography, making stained glass, scrapbooking and other crafty projects.
Heather Keating Hurdle, RVT
Hi there! I’m Heather, another one of the Registered Technicians here at FRVH. I was originally a Nursing major during my first year of college until I realized that working with animals is what I am most passionate about! I graduated from CCBC Essex in the spring of 2011 with an Associates of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology and passed my National Board Exam to obtain my license in August of 2011. I have been working in the veterinary field since 2008. In my spare time I enjoy traveling, the beach and of course spending time with my friends, family and furry “children”! I currently reside with my husband, Matt and our 3 kitties- Blaze, Pickles and Monster. I look forward to seeing you and your 4-legged friends soon.
Hello! My name is Andi. I am originally from California but I have called Maryland my home for almost 13 years and I have lived in Catonsville for over 3 years. I have been a registered veterinary technician for over 14 years. I graduated from Yuba Community College in California with an A.S. in Veterinary Technology.
I am the proud mom of two girls. I am also an avid soccer player and enjoy DIY and crafts. I have 5 hermit crabs, and 2 guinea pigs. Due to my rental situation I am unable to enjoy the company of a dog or cat at the moment. Thankfully I am able to come to a job every day that allows me to pet and snuggle with lots of dogs and cats. I look forward to seeing you and snuggling with your furry friends soon!
Kate Slowinski, VT
Hello! I have been around for a while. I started my veterinary technician schooling in 1974 in Massachusetts. I went to a Veterinary Technician program for 3 years in Worcester, MA and finished up in Boston with a BS in Veterinary Science with a school affiliated with Tufts Veterinary School. I worked in Florida in a small practice for a while and then moved back to MA to work at a large Veterinary Referral Hospital (South Shore Veterinary Associates) with 16 Board Certified Vets. I then moved to Maryland to get married in 1989 . I worked full time until I had 3 daughters so I worked part time when they got older. I enjoy doing anesthesia, dental work and teaching. While I was at home with my girls, I taught a course at Carroll Community College (Surgery and Anesthesia for Veterinary Assistants). I have 2 cats and 1 dog that I absolutely adore.

Justin Frazier, Veterinary Assistant
Hi, I am Justin Frazier. I have lived in Baltimore all my life. I have lived in the city, but now I reside in Catonsville. I attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel (a private high school out of Essex) where I played lacrosse. I graduated from Catonsville High in 2011 (Go Comets!). I am currently enrolled in CCBC. I am on my way to enrolling in the Veterinary Technology Program. I am hoping one day to become a zoo keeper or a wildlife specialist. I would love to travel someday too. I absolutely love animals of all species. I feel a bond with any animal I meet. I currently have a Lhasa Apso mixed with a poodle, a baby bearded dragon and 2 red eared sliders. I love working here at FRVH and love meeting new people and animals. Hope to see you soon!
Ashley Ferrell, Veterinary Assistant
I found my love of animals as a small child, and have always known I wanted to work with them. I have worked everywhere from shelters, to doggy daycares all the way back to my first job while in high school. I love FRVH because of the personal care we offer to each client, and having grown up in Catonsville I think it is great to see so many familiar faces! Outside of work I own three dogs, and find special interest in training and socialization.
